Wildcat Red Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Could Wildcat Red be a potential sleeper this Saturday in the 2014 Kentucky Derby?
Wildcat Red has been fantastic throughout his career, never placing lower than second in any of his seven career starts. He's coming off a nice showing in the Grade I Florida Derby, placing second behind Constitution and ahead of fellow Kentucky Derby contender General A Rod. He also won the Grade II Fountain Of Youth on February 22 of this year, beating out General A Rod and Top Billing, among others.
His win in the Fountain of Youth was his second victory in as many starts in February as he also claimed first in the Grade II Hutcheson, beating out C. Zee and Pablo Del Monte. He placed second in back-to-back races in the Gulfstream Park Derby and Juvenile Sprint, while winning a MSW in September 14 and an Allowance on October 13.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Wildcat Red is currently 15/1 to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby, which give him the same odds as General A Rod, Ride On Curlin, Samraat and Candy Boy. California Chrome remains the favorite at 11/5, while Wicked Strong has the next-best odds at 11/2.
The other contenders that are listed ahead of Wildcat Red in terms of odds are Intense Holiday and Danza at 8/1, respectively, and Tapiture at 12/1. The 2014 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 3 at Churchill Downs. The official post time is set for 6:24PM ET.
