Uncle Sigh Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Heading into tomorrow's Kentucky Derby, contender Uncle Sigh is currently listed as one of the long shots to win.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Uncle Sigh is 35/1 to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby. California Chrome remains the favorite at 21/10, while Wicked Strong and Danza have the next-best odds at 8/1. Intense Holiday is also 12/1, while Wildcat Red, General A Rod, Candy Boy and Ride On Curlin are all 18/1, respectively.
Uncle Sigh is coming off a fifth-place finish in the Grade I Wood Memorial, which was a disappointing finish considering it was the highest graded stakes race that he's run in to date. He finished behind winner Wicked Strong, second-place finisher Samraat, and third-place finisher Social Inclusion, among others.
That said, Uncle Sigh did finish strong in back-to-back Grade III stakes earlier this year. He finished third in the Withers behind Samraat on February 1 and then fell again to Samraat one month later in the Gotham on March 1. In his other two career starts, he placed second in a MSW on December 7 and won a MSW on December 27.
Uncle Sigh drew the No. 3 post position on Wednesday, which last produced a winner in the 1998 Kentucky Derby when Kent Desormeaux rode Real Quiet to a victory. That post position also netted a winner in 1987 (Alysheba), 1979 (Spectacular Bid) and 1975 (Foolish Pleasure).
The 2014 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 3 at 6:24PM ET (post time).
