Harry's Holiday Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) – With the 2014 Kentucky Derby just over 24 hours away, Harry’s Holiday remains a massive long shot to win at Churchill Downs.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Harry’s Holiday is 50/1 to win the Kentucky Derby, which gives him the worst odds in the entire field. He isn’t alone, however, as Vinceremos and Pablo Del Monte are also 50/1 to win on Saturday. Harry’s Holiday is also a long shot to finish in the top 3 at 15/1.
California Chrome remains the favorite to win at Churchill Downs as he’s currently 9/4, while Wicked Strong has the next-best odds at 15/2. Danza is 8/1, while Intense Holiday is 12/1 and Samraat is 16/1. General A Rod and Wildcat Red are also 16/1, respectively, while Ride on Curlin is 18/1 and Dance With Fate is 20/1.
Harry’s Holiday is coming off a poor finish in the Grade I Blue Grass, taking 13th behind Dance With Fate, Medal Count and Pablo Del Monte (among others). He did place second in the Grade III Spiral behind We Miss Artie, and took third in the John Battaglia Memorial behind Solitary Ranger and Poker Player. His lone career victories came in a Mcl on September 7 of last year and in an Allowance on December 20.
Harry’s Holiday drew the No. 2 post position on Wednesday, which further put him behind the 8-ball. The No. 2 post hasn’t produced a winner since 1978 when Affirmed won out of that gate. That was the third time since 1970 that the No. 2 post has produced the winning horse in the Kentucky Derby, but the gate has hit a massive dry spell.
