Chitu Kentucky Derby Betting Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Chitu enters Saturday's Kentucky Derby in the middle of the pack in terms of his odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Chitu is a 20/1 long shot to win the Kentucky Derby, which puts him smack dab in the middle of the field. California Chrome is currently a 11/5 favorite, while Wicked Strong is 11/2 and Intense Holiday is 8/1. Danza is also 8/1, while Tapiture is 12/1 and Ride On Curlin is 15/1.
Continuing with those odds, General A Rod, Samraat, Candy Boy and Wildcat Red are all 15/1, respectively, while Medal Count and Dance With Fate are both 20/1. Vicar's In Trouble is 25/1, while Uncle Sigh is 30/1 and We Miss Artie is 30/1.
Chitu doesn't have an extensive race history but he has had plenty of success over his four career starts. He's coming off a win in the Grade III Sunland Derby on March 23, beating out Midnight Hawk and Commissioner. He also placed second at the Grade II Robert B. Lewis Stakes on February 8 and won back-to-back races on December 7 (MSW) and December 27 (Allowance).
Chitu drew the No. 13 post position on Wednesday. That post last produced a winner back in 2004 when Smarty Jones won the Kentucky Derby. That was the gate's only winner dating back to 1970.
The 2014 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 3 at 6:24PM ET (post time).
