General A Rod Derby Odds

2014 Kentucky Derby odds General A Rod horse racing betting

CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - General A Rod could be a sleeper in the 2014 Kentucky Derby, if of course, he can get past one contender that has given him trouble of late.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, General A Rod is currently 15/1 to win Saturday's Kentucky Derby. He has yet to fall out of the money in five career starts, although one fellow Kentucky Derby contender has given him trouble over his last couple of races.

Wildcat Red finished second to Constitution in the Grade I Florida Derby on March 29, with General A Rod taking third. Wildcat Red also won the Grade II Fountain of Youth on February 22 and guess who finished second? That's right, General A Rod.

That said, General A Rod did beat Wildcat Red to win the Gulfstream Park Derby on January 1, so it's not as if Wildcat Red (who finished second in that race) completely owns General A Rod. It's interesting to note that Wildcat Red is also 15/1 to win Saturday's Kentucky Derby.

As the odds currently sit, California Chrome remains the favorite to win at Churchill Downs with 11/5 odds, while Wicked Strong is 11/2 and Intense Holiday is 8/1. Danza is also 8/1, while Tapiture is 12/1 and Ride On Curlin has the same 15/1 odds as General A Rod and Wildcat Red. Samraat and Candy Boy are the only other contenders listed at 15/1.

The 2014 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 3 at 6:24PM ET (post time).
