Dance With Fate Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) – Coming off a victory in his latest start, 2014 Kentucky Derby contender Dance With Fate will head into Saturday’s race with 20/1 odds to win.
Dance With Fate took home victory in the Grade I Blue Grass on April 12, beating out Medal Count and Pablo Del Monte. He also finished second at the Grade III El Camino Real Derby on February 15, finishing behind only Tamarando in the field. He won the race prior to that, claiming victory in an Allowance while beating out Brother Solider and Flagman.
He does have two duds on his racing resume, finishing eighth at a MSW on July 14 and eighth at the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile on November 2 of last year. But every other race he’s placed either first or second, including a win at a MSU on August 11 and finishing second in back-to-back starts at the Grade I Del Mar Futurity on September 4 and in the Grade I FrontRunner on September 28.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Dance With Fate is currently a 20/1 long shot to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby. California Chrome remains the favorite at 11/5, while Wicked Strong is 15/2 and Danza is 10/1. Hoppertunity is also 12/1, while Intense Holiday is 16/1 and Ride On Curlin, Samraat and Vicar’s In Trouble are all 18/1, respectively.
Dance With Fate’s trainer Peter Eurton liked what he saw when his horse ran on dirt in a recent workout.
“He looked great. He galloped out (five furlongs) in a minute. He was just kind of cruising along. Amir Cedeno worked him. He always works him. I get good feedback from the guy who knows him better.”
The 2014 Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday, May 3 at 6:24PM ET (post time).
