Candy Boy Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Candy Boy will be looking to build off a strong showing in the Santa Anita Derby when he contends in Saturday's Kentucky Derby.
Candy Boy finished third in April's Santa Anita Derby, which is a Grade I race. He placed behind California Chrome (first) and Hoppertunity (second), but did finish in the money for a fifth consecutive time.
Candy Boy won his previous race, which took place at the Grade II Robert B. Lewis. He beat out fellow Kentucky Derby contender Chitu and Midnight Hawk, who finished second and third, respectively. Candy Boy also placed second in the Grade I CashCall Futurity behind Shared Belief and won a MSW back in November of last year. His other starts resulted in a second-place finish at a MSW on October 12 of last year and finished fourth in back-to-back MSW appearances on August 31 and August 17, respectively.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, California Chrome remains the favorite to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby at 11/5, while Wicked Strong has the next-best odds at 11/2 and Intense Holiday and Danza are 8/1. Tapiture is 15/1, while Ride On Curlin, General A Rod, Samraat, Candy Boy and Wildcat Red are all 15/1.
