Monday Betting Values
(The Spread) – When do the lowly Pirates actually provide bettors some value? When they’re playing a St. Louis club that can’t get runners home from scoring position.
The over is 4-1 in the Devils’ last five games versus the Atlantic and 7-3-4 in their last 14 games versus the Eastern Conference. The over is also 7-0-1 in the Flyers’ last eight games following a win, 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite and 5-1 in their last six games as a home favorite.
NHL VALUE PLAY: OVER 8
The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the last five meetings between these two teams. The Celtics are also 5-1-1 against the spread in the last seven games following a straight up loss, 9-2 against the number in the last 11 games playing on one day of rest and 11-4 against the number in their last 15 games versus the NBA Southeast.
NBA VALUE PLAY: BOSTON CELTICS +4
You may have looked at this game and chalked it up to a St. Louis victory. But Adam Wainwright really struggled in April, going 0-3 with a 7.32 ERA. Granted, he did pitch well in his last outing but he didn’t pick up the victory. Compounding the issue is that the Cardinals just aren’t hitting well at the dish. They’re constantly leaving runners in scoring position and lost Sunday on a failed double steal attempt (suggesting maybe that manager Mike Matheny is pressing trying to make something happen). The Cards are 0-4 in Wainwright’s last four starts and 1-5 in his last six home starts.
MLB VALUE PLAY: PITTSBURGH PIRATES +169
The over is 4-0 in the last four meetings between these two teams in Chicago, 7-2-1 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams overall and 7-1 in Ubaldo Jimenez’s last eight road starts. The over is also 7-1 in Jimenez’s last eight starts overall, 5-0 in his last five starts as a road underdog and 6-0 in his last six starts as an underdog overall.
MLB VALUE PLAY: OVER 7.5
