Done Talking Derby Odds & Preview
LOUISVILLE, KY (The Spread) – Coming off a victory at the Illinois Derby, could 2012 Kentucky Derby contender Done Talking be a sleeper?
Oddsmakers currently list Done Talking as a 50/1 long shot to win this year’s Kentucky Derby, while Bodemeister and Union Rags are the favorites at 7/2, respectively. Gemologist has the next best odds at 7/1 while Dullahan 8/1.
As previously mentioned, Done Talking is coming off a victory at the Grade III Illinois Derby, beating the likes of Morgan’s Guerrilla and Hakama (among others). But previous to that victory Done Talking finished 10th at the Grade III Gotham on March 3 and fourth at the Grade II Remsen on November 26 of last year.
Skeedattle Stables is the owners of Done Talking while Hamilton Smith is his trainer and Sheldon Russell will be his Kentucky Derby jockey. Smith won the 2010 Colonial down training title for the fourth time in five years and was named the MTHA trainer of the year in Maryland in 2009. Russell, meanwhile, has won three stakes races on the 2010 Maryland Million Day card and won all three leading jockey titles in Maryland in 2011.
The 2012 Kentucky Derby is set for Saturday, May 5 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The post positions will be drawn on Wednesday and we’ll have coverage leading up to the race on Saturday so make sure you check out The Spread for more horse racing content.Want More From TheSpread.com?
