Devil May Care Update
The 3-year-old filly Devil May Care will look to build off a recent win when she races at Churchill Downs on Saturday in the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby.
Recent History:
Devil May Care won the G2 Bonnie Miss on March 20, which was her latest race. She did win the G1 Frizette on October 10 with a time of 1:35.07.
Devil May Care was a 12/1 long shot to win the Kentucky Derby when the post positions were drawn on Wednesday, and remains 12/1 according to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com.
Devil May Care will start out of the No. 11 post position, which has produced three Kentucky Derby victories since 1900.
Outlook:
The only filly in this year’s race, Devil May Care gets her chance to run against the top competition after winning the G2 Bonnie Miss. History isn’t on her side, however, as only three fillies have won the Kentucky Derby in the history of the race (the last coming in 1988 when Winning Colors was victorious). While she is a legitimate threat to finish in the top 3, she usually races close to the pace and is coming off a long layoff. Buyer beware on this filly, but again, she’s a sleeper.
