Ride On Curlin Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS (The Spread) – Could Ride On Curlin be one of the better values for bettors heading into the 2014 Kentucky Derby?
Ride On Curlin has been highly impressive throughout his entire career, not to mention competitive. His first two races he placed second and first, respectively, in back-to-back MSW starts before finishing fourth at the Grade 3 Iroquois on September 7.
From there, Ride On Curlin placed third at the Grade 1 Champagne on October 5 of 2013, finishing behind only Havana and Honor Code. He again placed third at the Street Sense later that month, this time taking a back seat to only Castline and Ichiban Warrior.
He won his second career race at an Allowance on January 12 of this year, edging out Smiling Charlie and Rivers Run Deep. When he returned to graded stakes racing, he placed third at the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes behind Kentucky Derby contender Tapiture and Strong Mandate. In his last two races gearing up for the Derby, he took third at the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes behind Hoppertunity and Tapiture, and second at the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, finishing behind Danza.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Ride On Curlin is 18/1 to win this weekend’s Kentucky Derby, which give him the same odds as Vicar’s in Trouble. California Chrome remains the favorite at 11/5, while Wicked Strong is 15/2 and Danza is 10/1. Hoppertunity, meanwhile, is 12/1 to win, while Intense Holiday is 16/1.
The 2014 Kentucky Derby will take place this Saturday, May 3 at approximately 6:24PM ET (post time).
