Bolo Kentucky Derby Preview
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - Bolo has finished in the money in his last four starts but will he accomplish the feat on Saturday in the Kentucky Derby?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, Bolo is a 40/1 long shot to win the Kentucky Derby while American Pharoah is the favorite at 9/4. Dortmund, meanwhile, is 9/2 to win while Carpe Diem is 7/1 and both Materiality and Mubtaahij are 12/1, respectively.
Bolo finished third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby behind Dortmund and One Lucky Dane. He also placed third in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes behind Dortmund and Prospect Park, and won back-to-back starts in a MSW on November 29 of last year and in the Eddie Logan on December 27.
The notion is that Bolo hasn't flashed his best yet as his team put him in position to rack up points and save his best effort for the Kentucky Derby. Then again, it sure looked like he was going all out in the San Felipe and was past easily by Dortmund. Bolo appears to be a boom or bust contender for Saturday's race.
