CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - The post positions for the 2015 Kentucky Derby have been drawn and long shot Ocho Ocho Ocho has drawn the rail for Saturday's race.
Here are the official post positions for Kentucky Derby 141: 1. Ocho Ocho Ocho, 2. Carpe Diem, 3. Materiality, 4. Tencendur, 5. Danzig, 6. Mubtaahij, 7. El Kabeir, 8. Dortmund, 9. Bolo, 10. Firing Line, 11. Stanford, 12. International Star, 13. Itsaknockout, 14. Keen Ice, 15. Frosted, 16. War Story, 17. Mr. Z, 18. American Pharoah, 19. Upstart, 20. Far Right.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, American Pharoah remains the favorite to win Saturday's Kentucky Derby at 5/2 odds, while Dortmund is 7/2 followed by Carpe Diem at 8/1. Firing Line and Materiality are 14/1, respectively, while Frosted and Upstart are 18/1.
Continuing with the current odds, Mubtaahij is 20/1 to win while International Star is 24/1 and El Kabeir, Far Right and Itsaknockout are all 35/1, respectively. Bolo, Danzig Moon and Tencendur are all 40/1, respectively, while Mr. Z and Ocho Ocho Ocho are 55/1, respectively, and both Keen Ice and War Story are 60/1, respectively. Stanford has the longest odds in the field at 60/1.
To date, the No. 5 post position has produced the most winners of the Kentucky Derby at 13, which includes California Chrome's victory in 2014. The post position has won 12 times, although it last produced a winner in 1986 (Ferdinand). The No. 8 and No. 10 post positions have each produced 10 Kentucky Derby winners apiece, while the No. 17 post has never hosted a winner.
