Wicked Strong Kentucky Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - California Chrome remains the favorite to win this year's Kentucky Derby but will Wicked Strong pull off the upset?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Wicked Strong is currently listed at 7/1 to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby, which takes place this Saturday at 6:24PM ET (post time). Those odds put him behind only California Chrome, who is the favorite at 12/5 to win.
Wicked Strong is coming off a first-place showing in the Wood Memorial after beating out Samraat and Social Inclusion. Samraat is also set to compete in this year's Kentucky Derby and currently has 16/1 odds to win on Saturday. Intense Holiday has those same odds, while Danza is 9/1 and Hoppertunity is 12/1 to win.
Before winning the Wood Memorial, Wicked Strong finished fourth in an Allowance on February 22 of this year and finished ninth in the Grade 2 Holy Bull on January 25. His only other start in a Graded Stakes came back on November 30 of last year when he placed third in the Remsen.
Wicked Strong is the maternal grandson of Charismatic, who won both the 1999 Kentucky Derby and the Preakness. Thus, if you like to bet on bloodlines, then Wicked Strong offers a nice price at 7/1 odds to overtake California Chrome and the rest of the Derby field.
