Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have established Dunkirk as a small 9/2 long shot to win the 2009 Kentucky Derby. One reason why he has been given the next best odds after I Want Revenge is his recent race history.

Dunkirk has run three times this year, including a March 28 showing at the Florida Derby. He finished second, which ended a two-race streak of first place finishes. In his first race of the season on January 24, Dunkirk finished first at the Maiden Special Weight. Not a month later, he placed first on February 19 at the Allowance at Gulfstream Park.

As previously noted, I Want Revenge is listed as the current favorite to win the 2009 Kentucky Derby at 5/2. Dunkirk is 9/2, while Friesan Fire’s odds have been established at 13/2 and Pioneerof the Nile at 6/1. Chocolate Candy rounds out the top five as a 14/1 long shot.

The Kentucky Derby 135 is set to run May 2, 2009 from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. Below are the complete odds for the 2009 Kentucky Derby.
