Clausen Draft Odds
Tim Tebow may be the biggest story of the NFL draft, but a prop surrounding Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen is attracting the most attention at BroburySports.com:
The prop surrounding Clausen is as follows: Will he be picked before or after the 9.5 overall draft position? The ‘under’ is the slight favorite at -125.
Clausen is a polarizing figure among NFL draft experts. Some say he has as much physical talent as Sam Bradford, the projected No. 1 overall pick.
Clausen also was tutored by coach Charlie Weis in a pro system. Weis is credited with vastly helping the career of Tom Brady as New England’s offensive coordinator.
Most of the downside to Clausen revolves around his maturity and leadership. Some question whether he can go into a room full of men and take charge. Clausen has been tabbed as a ‘bad teammate’ by some, although there really isn’t any direct evidence to support that.
Looking at the teams picking early, No. 7 Cleveland has already said they weren’t interested. That’s not likely to be a smoke screen. No. 8 Oakland and No. 9 Buffalo both have giant needs at quarterback.
Buffalo is said to be interested in Tebow, but they won’t take him this high. The problem is Tebow likely won’t be around when they pick in the second round.
No one ever knows what Oakland owner Al Davis will do on draft day, not even Davis himself sometimes. Clausen has good arm strength, but not elite. Davis is a big fan of really strong-armed quarterbacks, but how did that work out with JaMarcus Russell?
I think Clausen is a bit risky, but he’s too good for both Oakland and Buffalo to pass up.
I’m going ‘under’ with this prop at BroburySports.com.
