Even though Tiger is coming off a lackluster (for him) showing at The Masters, oddsmakers have every reason to make him a favorite in the 2009 British Open Championship. Woods has won three British Open Championships, the most recent being in 2006 when he shot a 270 (-18). He also won in 2005 and in 2000.

Unsurprisingly, Padraig Harrington has been given the next best odds to win at 10/1. Harrington has won the last two British Open Championship tournaments, finishing with a 277 and a 283, respectively.

Despite winning the 2009 Masters, Angel Cabrera is a whopping 40/1 long shot to win this year’s British Open Championship according to oddsmakers. The reason for the long odds can be pinpointed to Cabrera’s struggles at The Open over the course of his career. The highest he has ever finished is tied for fourth, which was at the 1999 British Open.

Some of the more notably golfers playing in this year’s tournament include Sergio Garcia (14/1), Ernie Els (22/1) and Phil Mickelson (14/1). For complete odds on all of the golfers in the 2009 British Open Championship, see below.
