Lefty wins third Masters

It wasn’t the Tiger Woods show Sunday in the final round of the 2010 Masters as Phil Mickelson ran away from the field to claim his third green jacket.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL, Mickelson had 7/1 odds to win the Masters, meaning a $100 bet on Mickelson will pay out $700.

Mickelson shot a 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish 16-under for the tournament, winning by three shots over Lee Westwood. Mickelson’s 16-under performance was the best overall score for a Masters champion since Woods shot it in 2001. It ties for the fourth best score in Masters history.

Mickelson had just one birdie in the front nine, but managed to finish with four on the back nine and played his round without a single bogey to claim his fourth major championship.

Westwood entered the final round with a 1-shot lead over Mickelson, but a 1-under 71 on Sunday was his lone round of the tournament over 70, and it wasn’t enough to hold off Lefty.

Anthony Kim had the round of the day, shooting a 7-under 65 to finish at -12 for the tournament. Kim finished in third place by himself.

Woods played with K.J. Choi for the fourth consecutive round and both shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday to finish at -11 for the tournament, which had them tied for fourth. Woods entered the tournament as the favorite with 3/1 odds.
