Tour de France Odds

The 2010 Tour de France kicks off on July 3rd and will run throughout the entire month. Let’s take a look at the opening odds.

Bet 2010 Tour de France Odds

Oddsmakers from online sports book have made Alberto Contador an 8/13 favorite. The Spanish cyclist has won two Tour de France races in the past three years, including one in 2007 and one in 2009. He also won a young rider classification in 2007.

Following Contador in odds is Andy Schleck of Luxembourgish at 9/2. He won the young rider classification of the Tour de France in 2008 and 2009, and is a National Time Trial Champion (2005), as well as a National Road Race Champion (2009).

There no doubt will be action on American cyclist Lance Armstrong, who is 7/1 to win this year’s running of the Tour de France (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005). He’s won seven Tour de France races throughout his career and 22 Individual Stages. He’s also a World Cycling Champion (1993) and a back-to-back Criterium du Dauphine Libere winner (2002, 2003).

Past winners this decade have included Armstrong from 1999 to 2005, Oscar Pereiro in 2006 (after Floyd Landis was disqualified for failing a series of doping tests), Contador in 2007 and 2009, and Carlos Sastre in 2008. Sastre is a 40/1 long shot to win this year’s Tour de France.
