Kim wins in a playoff

72 holes wasn’t enough, but Anthony Kim needed just one playoff hole to win the 2010 Shell Houston Open on Sunday night.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL, Kim had 25/1 odds to win the event, meaning a $100 bet on Kim will pay out $2,500.

Kim won the event, which took place from Redstone GC-The Tournament Course in Humble, Texas, by defeating Vaughn Taylor in a 1-hole playoff. Both golfers finished Sunday’s round at -12 for the tournament after Kim shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday and Taylor shot a 4-under 68.

Kim bogeyed the 18th hole on Sunday for force the playoff, but he bounced back with a par in the playoff hole to get past Taylor, who bogeyed the extra hole.

Both golfers finished one shot ahead of Graham DeLaet and Charl Schwartzel, who each finished at -11 for the tournament to tie for third. Shaun Micheel rounded out the top five by shooting -10 for the tournament.

Pre-event favorite, Ernie Els, finished tied for 44th overall at even par.
