Houston Open Picks
The 2010 Shell Houston Open will begin play on Thursday, and our team of writers and handicappers have three suggested picks for this weekend.
Ernie Els 10/1
It is hard not to like Els right now as he has won his last two events and been playing as well as anyone in 2010. Els ranks seventh in the world and he has made his last 14 cuts. Els has finished in the top 10 in six of those 14 events. Els finished 14th in last year’s Shell Houston Open and he seems to be turning it on with the Masters coming up next week.
Paul Casey 12/1
Casey is the defending champion of this event and he ranks sixth in the world right now after finishing in the top six in his last three events. Casey has finished in the top 11 in seven of his last eight events. Casey has been very steady and been under the radar a bit. He should be a contender this weekend.
Geoff Ogilvy 25/1
Ogilvy finished sixth in this tournament a year ago and second two years ago. Ogilvy ranks 13th in the world right now and he has yet to miss a cut this year. In his last 11 events, he has finished in the top 10 four times with one victory. At 25/1 odds, Ogilvy seems to be a solid play for the weekend.
The 2010 Shell Houston Open will be played at Redstone GC-The Tournament Course in Humble, Texas starting on Thursday, April 1 and concluding Sunday, April 4.
