Australian Grand Prix Picks
The 2017 Formula 1 Series gets started tonight with the Australian Grand Prix. Here are some drivers we like to win.
The Australian Grand Prix takes place tonight at 9PM ET from Melbourne Street Circuit. The race is a 191-mile contest that will run 58 laps around the track. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Lewis Hamilton is the clear favorite, as he has -200 odds. Other short odds to win are Sebastian Vettel (+500) and Valtteri Bottas (+600).
Lewis Hamilton looks to be in prime shape to dominate this race and this series with Nico Rosberg retiring. Rosberg was the only real challenge Hamilton has had on the track the past few years. With him gone, the two-time winner of this race should be able to cruise to a third victory.
Sebastian Vettel has a chance to get back to competing for wins this year with Rosberg gone as well. He is a former winner of this race but coming off a winless 2016, which was surprising. Still, he is a four-time F1 champion and can still elevate his driving to compete with Hamilton. Today’s race will be telling for his future.
Valltteri Bottas can literally become the next Rosberg, as he is replacing him on term Mercedes. Bottas hasn’t had a great deal of success in F1 over recent years, but this team change instantly elevates him to a premiere level. While I don’t expect him to win, he should compete near the front and could grab a win if Hamilton slips up.
