The Galaxy won the MLS Trophy in 2011 and also won in 2002 and 2005. The Colorado Rapids won the MLS title in 2010 while the Real Salt Lake won in 2009. The Columbus Crew won in 2008 while the Houston Dynamo won in back-to-back years in 2006 and 2007. Outside of the D.C. United who won in 1996 and 1997, the Dynamo were the only other team to win in back-to-back years so the Galaxy don’t have history on their side in terms of repeating as MLS champions.

The 2012 MLS season is the 100th season of FIFA-sanctioned soccer, the 34th season with a national first-division league in the United States and Canada, and the 17th season of Major League Soccer. The season will run from March throughout October and will culminate with a 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs.
