According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, “12 Years a Slave” is a clear favorite at 1/5 odds to win Best Picture at this year’s Oscars. “Gravity” has the next-best odds at 4/1, while “American Hustle” is 12/1 and “The Dallas Buyers Club” is 20/1. “The Wolf of Wall Street” is listed at 25/1, while the long shots are “Captain Phillips” and “Her,” which are both 150/1, respectively, while “Nebraska” and “Philomena” are both 200/1, respectively.
Alfonso Cuaron of “Gravity” is the definitive favorite to win the Oscar for Best Director at 1/20, while Steve McQueen of “12 Years a Slave” is 7/1. David O. Russell of “American Hustle” is 25/1, while Martin Scorsese from “The Wolf of Wall Street” is 40/1 and Alexander Payne of “Nebraska” is a 100/1 long shot.
As for the Best Actor award, Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”) is a 1/5 favorite while Chiwetel Ejiofor (“12 Years a Slave”) is 6/1 and Leonardo DiCaprio (“The Wolf of Wall Street”) is 5/1 and Bruce Dern (“Nebraska”) is 40/1. The long shot to win the award is Christian Bale of “American Hustle,” who is 75/1.
Finally, Cate Blanchett of “Blue Jasmine” is the favorite at 1/30 to win Best Actress while Amy Adams of “American Hustle” is 12/1 and Sandra Bullock of “Gravity” is 15/1. Judi Dench of “Philomena” is 35/1 and Meryl Streep of “August: Osage County” is a 40/1 long shot.
