Women's PGS Odds
Fast turns and good balance are the key to winning the Women's GPS event at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
PGS stands for parallel giant slalom and according to vancouver2010.com, in this event two snowboarders race head-to-head down a course, turning through a series of gates. The fastest goes on to the next round. The top finishers compete in a total of nine runs.
Dutch competitor Nicolien Sauerbreij is favored to win this event.
Sauerbreij has odds of 5/2 to win the gold medal according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Amelie Kober (3/1), Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli (4/1), and Alena Zavarzina (7/1).
Sauerbreij has competed in the last two Olympics in the pgs as she took 24th in 2002 and 12th in 2006. She has won two World Cup events in the gps in her career.
