Lange has odds of 4/7 to win the gold medal in this event according to online sports book SBGGLOBAL. Other short odds to win are Steven Holcomb (11/4), Karl Angerer (10/1), and Janis Minins (12/1).

Lange already won the gold medal in the two-man at this Olympics and he is looking to win two gold medals in back-to-back Olympics. He also won the four-man gold in 2002. He has won the world championships in the four man in 2008, 2005, 2004, 2003, and 2000. He finished second in the four-man in the 2009 world championships.

Holcomb competes for the United states and he won the 2009 world championship for the four-man event. He placed sixth in the 2006 Olympics.

Angerer competes for Germany. He did not take part in this event at the 2006 Olympics.

Minins competes for Latvia and he took third in the 2009 world championships for Latvia. He took 10th in the 2006 Olympics.
