Men's Giant Slalom Odds
The Men’s Giant Slalom is one of the longest competitions in alpine skiing at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
According to vancouver2010.com, giant slalom is similar to the slalom, with fewer, wider and smoother turns. Each skier makes two runs down two different courses on the same slope. Both runs take place on the same day. Usually the first run is held in the morning and the second in the afternoon. The times for both runs are then combined with the fastest total time determining the winner.
American Ted Ligety is favored to win the gold in this event.
Ligety has odds of 11/2 to win the gold medal in this event according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Marcel Hirscher (6/1), Massimiliano Blardone (13/2), and Benjamin Raich (7/1).
Ligety won the 2006 Olympic gold medal in the combined and was third in the 2009 world championships for the giant slalom. He has won five World Cup events in the giant slalom in his career, including an event on Jan. 29 of this year.
