Avatar Best Picture Odds
The 2010 Academy Awards is March 7 and the film “Avatar” is the hands down favorite to win Best Picture.
“Avatar” is the 2009 American science fiction epic film written and directed by James Cameron. The film stars Sam Worhington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Stephen Lang and Giovanni Ribisi and is set in the year 2154.
After earning $27 million on its opening day, $77 million over its opening weekend and grossing over $669 million in the U.S. and Canada, “Avatar” has emerged as a heavy favorite to win Best Picture at the 82nd Oscars. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com, “Avatar” is –250 on the money line, compared to “The Hurt Locker,” which has the second best odds at +120.
“Up in the Air” is +800 on the money line, while “Inglorious Basterds” is +1400 and “The Blind Side” is +1500 to win Best Picture. The long shots to win the category are “District 9” at +6000, “An Education” at +5000 and “A Serious Man” at +5000.
All the films in the Best Picture category will have their hands full on March 7. “Avatar” is the highest-grossing film of all time in North American and at least 27 other markets, including China, Russia, Australia and Spain.
