Kansas Takes on A&M
The Kansas Jayhawks play another tough Monday night road game, this time against the Texas A&M Aggies. Here’s the preview from BroburySports.com.
Top-ranked Kansas is a 7 ½-point road favorite at BroburySports. The game is on ESPN at 9 pm ET, right after Connecticut (+9 ½) at No. 4 Villanova.
Kansas (24-1 SU, 10-11-1 ATS) had a huge ‘Big Monday’ battle at the Texas Longhorns last week. They came through with flying colors in an 80-68 win as 1 ½-point favorites. The Jayhawks won handily despite shooting just 40 percent from the field.
The game against Texas was the only ‘cover’ for Kansas in the last five contests. They had a 73-59 home win over Iowa State this past Saturday, but were dealing with a huge 21-point spread.
Kansas is averaging 83.2 PPG on the season, fourth in the nation. However, their scoring has dipped to 76.2 PPG the last five games, and that’s with two going into overtime. They will continue to have trouble ‘covering’ large spreads unless the scoring gets back up.
Aggies undefeated at home
Texas A&M (18-6 SU, 12-8 ATS) is undefeated at home (13-0 SU). They’re on a four-game winning streak, both SU and ATS, including a 67-65 win at Texas Tech on Saturday as one-point dogs.
Guard B.J. Holmes had 18 points while leading scorer Donald Sloan (18.3 PPG) added 14. Texas A&M only averages 73.4 PPG on the season, and they will need to shoot really well to have a chance.
The big advantage Kansas has is on the glass. The combination of Cole Aldrich at center and Marcus Morris at power forward is one that few teams can match. A&M’s Bryan Davis is a willing and tough rebounder, but he’s going to need a lot of help.
This is the first meeting between the teams this year. Kansas won by 20 points last year as 10-point ‘chalk.’ The Jayhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings at Texas A&M.
The ‘over’ is 4-1 A&M’s last five games. However the ‘under’ is 5-2 in Kansas’ last seven contests.
