Men's Halfpipe Odds

The Men’s Snowboarding Halfpipe event is one of the most popular competitions at the 2010 Winter Olympics, and that is all because of American Shaun White.

According to vancouver2010.com, in the halfpipe, one snowboarder at a time performs a routine of acrobatic jumps, twists and tricks on the inside of a half-cylinder-shaped snow tube or ramp while moving from one side of the halfpipe to the other. The riders are judged on the height and style of their tricks.

White, the defending gold medalist, is the clear cut favorite to win this event again.

White has odds of 1/4 to win the gold medal according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Iouri Podladtchikov (5/1), Scott Lago (10/1), and Louie Vito (12/1).

White has become one of the most recognizable winter sports athletes in the world, as he has his own video games and sponsors thanks to his success on a snowboard. He won the 2006 gold medal in this event and is a 15-time X-Games gold medalist for snowboarding events.

Podladtchikov competes for Russian and he won the halfpipe World Cup title in 2008 while coming in second to White in the 2009 X Games.

Lago is an American competitor that has won two World Cup halfpipe events in his career, with the most recent coming in 2007.

Vito also competes for the U.S. and he was the 2008-09 U.S. Grand Prix overall title winner.

The 2010 Winter Olympics take place from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and began on Friday, Feb. 12. They will be concluding on Sunday, Feb. 28. For complete odds on which athlete will win the men’s snowboarding half pipe event, see below.
