Album of the Year Odds
LOS ANGELES, CA (TheSpread) – The big guns are nominated for Album of the Year as part of the 2011 Grammys. Here is a look at the odds to win this award.
The Album of the Year goes to the artist that put out the best album over the last 12-month period. The Album encompasses all of the songs on a release from the artist and whatever is judged to have the best range of songs from start to finish.
Recovery by Eminem is the favorite to win this year’s award according to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com as it has a betting line of -250. Other nominees include The Suburbs by Arcade Fire (+300), The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga (+350), Teenage Dream by Katy Perry (+800), and Need You Now by Lady Antebellum (+1000).
Eminem has never won Album of the Year but had two singles hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The album was released in June of 2010 and hit No. 1 in the U.S. and nine other countries.
The Suburbs was released in August of 2010 and this is the first time Arcade Fire is going for Album of the Year. It reached No. 1 on the U.S. charts but was replaced by Eminem.
Lady Gaga is looking to win her first Album of the Year award. The album was released in November of 2009 and reached No. 1 on the charts and finished 13th at the end of 2010 despite having been out for over a year.
The 2011 Grammy Awards will take place on Feb. 13 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air live on CBS starting at 8PM ET
