2011 Formula 1 Season Championship Odds Sebastian Vettel

(TheSpread) – The 2011 Formula 1 season kicks off on March 13 and the odds are out for which driver will walk away with the season title.

Sebastian Vettel is the favorite to defend his 2010 championship according to the online sports book SportsBook.com. Vetter has 1/1 odds to win the 2011 title. Other short odds to win are Fernando Alonso (11/10), Lewis Hamilton (5/4), and Michael Schumacher (5/2).

Vettel won the 2010 title by four points over Alonso. It was his first Formula 1 season title. He had finished second the year before. Vettel won the last two races of the season to lock up the title and he had five total wins on the year.

Alonso won the title in 2005 and 2006 and he finished third in 2007. Last year, Alonso won five events to contend for the title, but a seventh-place finish in the final race ended his title hopes.

Hamilton won the title in 2008 and he finished fourth last year. He also took second in 2007. Last year, Hamilton won three events and second in five other races.

Schumacher won the season title in 1994, 1995, and in 2000-2004. After taking off three years, Schumacher returned in 2010 and placed ninth in the series. He failed to win or finish in the top three of any race last year.
