Women's 3,000M Odds

Endurance and consistency will be the key to win the gold medal in the Women’s 3,000 Meter Speed Skating Event at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In this event, the skating takes place on a 400 meter oval ice rink. Timed to one-hundredth of a second, athletes compete in by skating counter-clockwise around the oval and changing lanes once per lap, which equals out the distance.

A five-time skating world champion, Martina Sablikova, is favored to win the gold in this event.

Sablikova has odds of 5/6 to win the gold medal according to online sports book Brobury Sports. Other short odds to win are Stephanie Beckert (5/1), Kristina Groves (13/2), and Cindy Klassen (8/1).

Sablikova competes for the Czech Republic and won the 2007 world championship in this event and finished with the silver last year. She was the 2009 all-around world champion.

Beckert compete for Germany and took ninth in this event in the 2009 world championships and finished 12th in the all around. In 2008, she finished fourth in the all around.

Groves is a Canadian speed skater that has won two Olympic medals, but none for the 3,000 meter. She was the 2008 world champion in this event and has also won two bronze medals for the world championships in this event.

Klassen compete for Canada and she has won two bronze medals in this event over the past two Olympic games. She is the 2005 world champion in the 3,000 meter and also took the bronze in 2007.
