Women's 1000m Skating Odds
SOCHI, Russia (The Spread) – The Women’s 1000-meter should be a competitive speed skating event at the 2014 Olympics. Here is a look at the odds to win gold in this competition.
According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Heather Richardson is favored to win the gold, as she has odds of 5/4 to win. Other short odds to win are Ireen Wust (7/4) and Brittany Bowe (9/2).
Richardson competes for the United State and she is seeking her first Olympic medal. She finished ninth in this event at the 2010 Olympics. She has since earned a bronze in the 2011 world championship for this event.
Wust competes for the Netherlands. She has won two Olympic gold medals in her career, but none for the 1000 meter. She has claimed the 2007 world championship in the event and finished second in 2011 and 2013.
Bowe competes for the United State and competes on skates and inline. She hasn’t been competing in speed skating for long, but took third in the 2013 world championship for the 1000 meter and set the world record in the event in November.
