Palmer birdied the final hole to defeat Allenby by one stroke at -15 overall for the tournament. Steve Stricker came in third at -13 while Retief Goosen shot -12 to finish fourth.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Palmers entered the tournament with 150/1 odds to win, meaning a $100 bet on Matteson will pay out $15,000.
Palmer was consistent all weekend, never shooting worse than a 2-under 68 in a single round on the weekend.
Stricker entered the tournament as the favorite, with 7/1 odds, but a 1-under 69 on Saturday was what kept him from contending down the stretch on Sunday.
Goosen shot an 8-under 62 on Sunday to make a run at the leader board, but it wasn’t quite enough. Goosen entered the tournament with 25/1 odds.
