2011 Australian Open Womens Odds Justine Henin

MELBOURNE, Australia (TheSpread) – The field is wide open to win the 2011 Australian Open Women’s Championship. Here is a look at the odds for the field.

Oddsmakers from online sports book have made Kim Clijsters the favorite with odds of 9/4 to win. Other short odds to win are Carolina Wozniacki (4/1) and Justine Henin (5/1).

Clijsters has never won the Australian Open and she has three Grand Slam titles in her career. Her last semifinals appearance in the Aussie Open was back in 2007.

Wozniacki is the top seed in the tournament but she has not gotten past the fourth round in the event. She has yet to win a grand slam title and appeared in just one grand slam final in 16 tournaments.

Maria Sharapova is the most recent champion to play in this year’s event. She won the 2008 title. She has 10/1 odds to win. Venus Williams has not won this event but reached at least the quarterfinals seven times in her career. Williams has 15/1 odds to win.
