Best Actress-Comedy or Musical Odds
BEVERLY HILLS, CA (TheSpread) – The Best Actress-Comedy or Musical category at the 2013 Golden Globes appears to not have much competition at all. Here is a look at the odds for this category.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the overwhelming favorite to win is Jennifer Lawrence, who has odds of -2500 for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. The closest in the odds department are Judi Dench and Meryl Streep, who each have odds of +2000 for their respective roles.
Lawrence stars opposite Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook, a movie about a man with bipolar disorder that picks up his life after meeting Lawrence’s character, who also has her own issues. She was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama in 2010 for her role in Winter’s Bone. She has yet to win a Golden Globe.
Dench stars in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, a movie about a widowed housewife that has to sell her home in order to deal with the debts left by her husband’s passing. Dench has been nominated for many Golden Globes in the past, but only won in 1998 for Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Mrs. Brown.
Streep plays Kay Soames in the movie, Hope Springs. Streep and Tommy Lee Jones played a married couple that have lost the spark in their marriage and attempt to get it back through counseling. Streep has won eight Golden Globe awards in her career, including Best Actress in a Drama last year for her role in The Iron Lady.
The 2013 Golden Globes will be held Sunday, January 13 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and air live on NBC at 8PM ET.
