Golden Globes Best Actress Odds


BEVERLY HILLS, CA (The Spread) – The Best Actress categories at the 2014 Golden Globes have one close race and one that’s no contest. Here is a look at the odds.

The Golden Globes have two separate categories for Best Actress. There is one for Drama and one for Musical or Comedy. When it comes to Drama, According to oddsmakers from, Cate Blanchett (-800) is the clear favorite to win. Other odds are Sandra Bullock (+400), Emma Thompson (+2000), Judi Dench (+3500) and Kate Winslet (+7500).

Blanchett is nominated for her role as Jeanette “Jasmine” Francis in Blue Jasmine. She is a two-time Golden Globe winner and has earner other nominations in the past as well.

Bullock is nominated for her role as Dr. Ryan Stone in Gravity. She won Best Actress in the 2010 Golden Globes and has been nominated three other times.

In the Musical or Comedy category, both Amy Adams and Meryl Streep are co-favorites, as each has odds of +140 to win. Other odds are Julia Louis-Dreyfus (+300), Julie Delpy (+2200) and Greta Gerwig (+3000).

Adams is nominated for her role as Sydney Prosser in American Hustle. She is seeking her first Golden Globe after being nominated four previous times for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.

Streep is nominated for her role as Violet Weston in August: Osage County. She is an eight-time Golden Globe winner and her last win came in 2011.

Dreyfus is nominated for her role as Eva in Enough Said. She has won a Golden Globe in the past for her acting on TV, but never for a film.
