ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -The Detroit Red Wings were without two-thirds of their top line against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Henrik Zetterberg missed the game due to back spasms, and Tomas Holmstrom was out with a knee injury sustained in the first period of Thursday night’s loss at St. Louis.
Zetterberg is second in the NHL with 25 goals and 50 points and had a hat trick in the last meeting between these teams, a 5-0 Detroit victory two weeks ago.
Holmstrom accompanied Detroit to the Twin Cities after the game at St. Louis, but flew home to have an MRI exam after the knee had swelling. He was injured on a knee-to-knee collision with Jay McKee and is listed as day-to-day.
The Red Wings called up Mark Hartigan from AHL Grand Rapids to fill out the roster.
