SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) -Florida Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe is expected to miss two weeks because of a back injury sustained in Friday night’s season opener at Carolina.
McCabe had an MRI on Saturday, and it revealed a contusion and lower back strain.
“There’s no fracture,” Florida general manager Jacques Martin said. “So that’s good news for us. He’s probably going to need probably a couple of weeks, but that’s encouraging.”
McCabe was injured in the second period of Florida’s 6-4 loss at Carolina when he collided with Hurricanes defenseman Dennis Seidenberg along the boards.
The 33-year-old McCabe was acquired in an offseason trade with Toronto.
