SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (AP) -Jozef Stumpel scored the only goal of the shootout to lift the Florida Panthers over the Calgary Flames 3-2 in a preseason game Tuesday night.
Stumpel went to his backhand to beat Flames goalie Curtis McElhinney in the shootout.
Daymond Langkow gave Calgary a 1-0 lead, scoring on the power play midway through the first period. Rostislav Olesz picked up a turnover in the Flames end and slotted it past goaltender McElhinney to tie the game.
Grant Stevenson put the Flames up 2-1 on a pass from Jarome Iginla before Martin Tuma tied it with 8 minutes left in the second period.
Iginla had the best chance to score in the third period. With both teams down a man, he broke in alone but Tyler Plante poked the puck away and Langkow couldn’t capitalize on the rebound.
