BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – Two people familiar with the discussions have told The Associated Press that the NHL’s annual pre-draft scouting combine will be held in Buffalo over the next two years.
A formal announcement will be made at a news conference the Sabres have scheduled Monday afternoon. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity Sunday because the team and the NHL have not revealed the reasons for holding the news conference.
The combine had previously been held at a convention center outside of Toronto.
The Sabres prompted the push to host the combine two years ago, when they began construction on a hockey/entertainment complex called HarborCenter across the street from their arena. The facility is scheduled to open this fall and will feature two rinks and a full-service hotel.
