DENVER (AP) -Avalanche forward Marek Svatos signed a one-year deal with Colorado on Thursday.
Svatos scored 15 goals and had 30 points in 66 games for the Avalanche last season, a year after tying Joe Sakic for the team lead with 32 goals and finishing third among NHL rookies behind Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby.
His nine game-winning goals that season tied the league record set by Steve Larmer in 1982-83.
“We are looking for Marek to regain his rookie-season scoring touch and heroics,” general manager Francois Giguere said. “He has tremendous skills and is part of a group of young players ready to make a significant impact on the success of our team.”
