DALLAS (AP) -The Dallas Stars signed defenseman Sergei Zubov to a $5.35 million extension Sunday, adding a year to a contract that was set to expire after next season.
The 37-year-old Zubov, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, has played 11 of his 15 NHL seasons with the Stars.
“This is the place that my family and I love, and I want to finish my career here,” Zubov said.
Zubov is the franchise leader among defensemen in goals (107), assists (403) and points (510).
Zubov won Stanley Cups with the New York Rangers in 1994 and the Stars in ’99.
“He is a valuable piece to our hockey club and has been consistently one of the best in the NHL at his position,” Stars general manager Doug Armstrong said.
