BOSTON (AP) – The Chicago Blackhawks are in Boston hoping to find the momentum they lost in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals.
They outshot the Bruins 19-4 and outscored them 1-0 in the first period in Chicago on Saturday night. But Boston won 2-1 in overtime to even the best-of-seven series at one game apiece.
The next two games are in Boston on Monday and Wednesday nights before the series returns to Chicago for Game 5 next Saturday.
The team that scored first also lost the opener. Boston led 2-0 and 3-1 then allowed two goals in the last 12 minutes of regulation. Chicago went on to win 4-3 in three overtimes.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville says that might be unusual, but there’s nothing wrong with scoring first.
