PITTSBURGH (AP) – The New York Rangers are on the verge of a franchise first.
If the Rangers can beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday night, they will have rallied from a 3-1 series deficit for the first time in team history.
New York has won two straight to force a deciding game, including a dominant 3-1 victory in Game 6 on Sunday. Game 7s aren’t new territory for the Rangers, who are 4-0 in Game 7s since 2012.
The Penguins have struggled since taking control of the series with two wins in New York last week. Pittsburgh is just 2-6 all time at home in Game 7s, including a loss to Tampa Bay in the opening round in 2011.
