RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Hurricanes switched out backup goalies Monday, recalling John Grahame from Albany of the American Hockey League and assigning Michael Leighton to the team’s top minor league affiliate.
The 32-year-old Grahame played in 13 games with the Hurricanes before being sent down nearly three weeks ago, posting a 4-6-1 record with a 3.83 goals-against average.
The 26-year-old Leighton was 1-1-0 with a 2.66 GAA in three games with Carolina after being recalled on Jan. 3. Sending Leighton to the minors gives him a chance to get some work. He played little behind No. 1 goaltender Cam Ward.
