Blues ease past Jets
St. Louis earned a 4-1 home win Sunday night over Winnipeg to improve to 26-8-6 on the season. Ryan O’Reilly gave the Blues the lead with 5:42 left in the first period on a goal assisted by David Perron and Alex Pietrangelo. The Jets tied it up at the 14:20 mark of the second period, but with 4:51 to go in the second Jaden Schwartz put St. Louis back ahead with assists going to Jordan Kyron and Brayden Schenn. Robert Thomas extended the advantage to 3-1 with 12:54 to go in the third period on a power play goal assisted by Vince Dunn and Kyrou. Schwartz added an unassisted empty-net goal with 30 seconds left. Jordan Binnington recorded the win as he made 25 saves on 26 shots.
Coyotes doubled up by Stars
Arizona fell by a score of 4-2 at home Sunday night versus Dallas to drop to 21-16-4 on the season. Taylor Hall put the Coyotes ahead 1-0 with 11:18 left in the first period on assists by Conor Garland and Christian Dvorak. Garland pushed it to 2-0 with 1:58 to go in the first on assists courtesy of Nick Schmaltz and Carl Soderberg. After a scoreless second period, Arizona gave up four goals in the third period to blow its lead. Antti Raanta allowed three goals on 24 shots to take the loss.
NHL Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Blues are 8-0 in their last eight games as a favorite. St. Louis is 6-2 in its last eight road games.
Arizona
The Coyotes are 10-4 in their last 14 Tuesday games. The underdog is 6-20 in the last 26 meetings.
Prediction:
I would give this bet a lot more though if Arizona was in better form, but after blowing the two-goal lead in the third period Sunday for its third straight loss that is hardly the case. St. Louis is on a roll and it matches up well against another defensive-minded squad. Binnington carries a .921 save percentage coming into this contest and he should turn away enough shots here while also getting sufficient offensive support to guide the Blues to yet another win.
