Flyers flop at Sharks
Philadelphia lost by a score of 6-1 Saturday night at San Jose to drop to 21-12-5 on the season. The Flyers trailed 3-0 until Ivan Provorov put them on the board with a power play goal 51 seconds into the third period off assists from Claude Giroux and Travis Konecny. The Sharks scored three more goals the rest of the period to pull away again. Carter Hart suffered the loss as he surrendered six goals on 29 shots.
Ducks edge Golden Knights
Anaheim secured a 4-3 home win Friday night over Las Vegas to move to 16-18-4 on the season. After a scoreless first period, the Ducks fell behind 1-0 at the 15:05 mark of the second period. Anaheim evened the score a little over four minutes later on an Adam Henrique power play goal assisted by Jakob Silfverberg and Cam Fowler. Fowler scored on the power play with 9:37 to play in the second with assists going to Sam Steel and Devin Shore. Max Comtois scored 14 seconds later to give the hosts a 3-1 advantage with Jacob Larsson and Isac Lundestrom drawing assists. Shore made it a 4-1 game midway through the third period on an assist from Carter Rowney. The Golden Knights scored twice in the final two minutes, but it was too little too late. John Gibson picked up the win between the pipes as he allowed three goals on 29 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Flyers are 4-1 in their last five games as a road favorite. Philadelphia is 1-4 in its last five Sunday games.
Anaheim
The Ducks are 8-3 in their last 11 games as a home underdog. The underdog is 4-9 in the last 13 meetings.
Prediction:
Anaheim had a day of rest yesterday, while the Flyers are on a back-to-back and will turn to backup goalie Brian Elliott tonight. The Ducks have been decent at home lately and showed good fight against Las Vegas. Gibson is good enough to shut down a Philly offense that was unable to muster much last night. I’m taking the slight dogs at home tonight.
