Rangers edged by Blue Jackets

New York lost its third straight game and sixth out of seven Thursday night with a 4-3 overtime defeat at home versus Columbus. The Blue Jackets scored the game-winner 31 seconds into the extra session. Jimmy Vesey tied the score for the Rangers (15-14-7) at 1-1 with his 10th goal of the season in the first period, but Columbus took the lead back at 2-1 through 20 minutes. Kevin Hayes and Vladislav Namestnikov assisted on the Vesey goal. Chris Kreider tied it back up on the power play early in the second period with his 18th goal of the season. Mats Zucarrello and Hayes drew assists. Kreider added his 19th goal of the season in the third to give New York the lead at 3-2 on assists from Brady Skjel and Henrik Lundqvist. Columbus managed to tie it up with 2:40 remaining before winning int in OT. Lundqvist made 25 saves on 29 shots in the winning effort.

Predators drop fifth straight

Nashville lost a fifth consecutive game Friday night despite registering 49 shots on goal as it was shut out 2-0 at home by the Stars. Mattias Ekholm led the offensive effort with eight shots on goal, while Viktor Arvidsson took six shots on goal. Calle Jarnkrok notched four shots. Dallas scored once in the first period and again in the second to take control. Pekka Rinne recorded 28 saves on 30 shots in the losing effort.

NHL Betting Trends

New York

The over is 4-0 in the last four Rangers road games. The road team is 2-7 in the last nine meetings.

The Predators are 7-1 in their last eight games versus the Metropolitan Division. Nashville is 8-3 in its last 11 Saturday games.

The Predators are still a very talented team and are getting healthy again. They are due for a win and that is a bad sign tonight for a mediocre Rangers squad. I think it all comes to a head and Nashville wins by multiple goals. Go with the puck line bet.
